Willard Stevens
Willard Stevens, 61 year old resident of California City, passed away suddenly on March 18, 1996, in Bakersfield following a brief illness.
Willard was born February 5, 1935, in Summerset, Kentucky. A commercial welder, he lived in Dayton, Ohio most of his life.
He and his wife, Rhoda, moved to California City a year and a month ago. They came to be near their only son, Tom, their daughter-in-law, Sue, and their grandsons. Willard fell totally in love with the desert, enjoyed his grandchildren, and shared his pastime of garage sales and flea market bargaining with them.
Willard is deeply mourned by Rhoda, his first and only sweetheart and his wife of 43 years; by his son Tom and daughter-in-law Sue Stevens; and by his grandsons, Thomas "T.C." and Matthew Stevens all of California City, and by his grand on Chad Perkins of Dayton, Ohio.
He is also mourned by his brothers Daniel and Lloyd Stevens and his sister Bertha Hasty.
Visitation for Willard will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Stickel Chapel in Mojave. Memorial services begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ron Smith of the Victory Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at the California City Memorial Park under the direct ion of Stickel Mortuary
