Joseph Paul Shortino
1931-1997
Joseph Paul Shortino was born on September 22, 1931, in Lima, Ohio and passed away February 16, 1997 A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Joe (as he was known by his friends and loved ones) is survived by his son Paul Shortino and wife, Carmen; son Joseph Shortino and wife Lyn; daughter Michelle and husband Glen; son Vincent and wife Phrine, grandchildren Joseph, Paul, Krysta, Gina, Anthony, Taryn, Scott, Carly, Vincent Jr, and Daniel; great-grandchild Melissa; sister Lena DeMarco, nephews Frank and Paul, nieces Gina and Irish and all of his loving, supportive family and friends in Ohio.
Joe is also survived by his lifetime companion, friend, and lover of 18 years, Pat Baker, their "other" children Luann, David, Connie, Nancy, Chuck, and Gary, and their "other" grandchildren Kelly, Morgan, Mickey, Whitney, Addy, Inosi, Marshall, Karen, Kacy, Christopher, Jessica, Mikala, and Michael.
Always surrounded by his children and grandchildren, Joe always had a great story to tell and a smile for all who knew him. He taught us respect and self-worth and the true meaning of the word "family."
Joe made a big difference in all of our lives. He always said "You're nobody till somebody loves you..." Well Joe, you sure are a "somebody" because everybody loves you. We love you and rest in peace.
Services for Joe Shortino will be held Thursday, February 20, at the California City Community Church. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. A graveside ceremony will follow at the California City Cemetery and a reception will be given by Mr. Frank Cicora at the Ready Room in California City.
