Jeffrey M. Abegg, 52, of Peoria, died at 3:20 p.m., February 7, 2013 at Washington Christian Village after being a patient at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for the past six weeks.
He was born on January 22, 1961 in Peoria to Theodore and Mary Anne (Dunne) Abegg.
Jeff is survived by his mother of Peoria; his brother, Ken (Shirley) of West Peoria; his son, Jordan of the United States Army; niece, Heidi Abegg of Springfield; aunt; Linda (John) Perardi of Trivoli; uncle, Jerry (Carole) Dunne of Brimfield; numerous cousins; and his dog, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
Jeff graduated in 1983 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Suma Cum Laude, after attending Richwoods High School.
He was employed by Miller Automotive from 1984 to 2008 and from Miller II through 2012, until he became ill.
He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportmen’s Club.
Jeff was a lifelong animal lover and an ice hockey fan, especially when his son was competing.
Jeff will be missed by his family and friends, since he had to leave us at such a young age.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be at a later date.
