Albert R. Morris Jr.
Albert Ross Morris Jr., 67, California City, CA passed away Thursday morning, November 25, 1999, surrounded by family at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services were held Tuesday, November 30, 1999, at the Community Church of California City, with interment following at California City Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Al was born in Pryor, Oklahoma, on October 29, 1932, and raised in Missouri. While living and working in Kansas, he met and married Doris I. Hopkins on October 11, 1952. They moved to California in 1955 and then on to various locations throughout the country, including Michigan, Washington D.C., and Texas. They have resided in California City since 1994, when he retired from the Operating Engineers as a surveyor. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 476. He was a charter member of the Old Tin Car Club, and a member of the Eagles No. 1354.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert R. Morris Sr., and Helen Morris, and brother, Bill Morris. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris I. Morris; daughter, Linda Seidl of Jackson, MS, and her husband, Dennis and daughters, Nikki (19) and Jill (16); daughter, Debra Merrill of Lansing, MI, and her husband, Mark, and children, Brian (12) and Emily (9); sister, Barbara Floyd of California City and her husband, Edward, and daughter, Teresa; sister, Betty Schultheiss of Kingman, AZ, and her husband, Bill, and their children, Joe, Russ, Sharon, and Tina; brother, Gary Morris of Auburn WA, and his wife, Linda, and daughters Christine and Stephanie; and "sister-in-law," Betty Tackett and her children, Laura, Barry, Steve, and Diana; along with numerous other members of his wife's family who all loved him very much.
Al's love of people will be cherished by all-he never met a stranger. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed traveling with family and friends, but what he enjoyed most was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Services are provided by Stickel Funeral Home.
