James Calvin Anderson, 88, of Mulberry, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at his home.

He was born November 9, 1924, in Clinton County at home, the son of Lonnie L. and Ethel (Haun) Anderson.

In 1942, he graduated Colfax High School. His entire life was spent in Clinton County with the exception of three years spent with the 65th Army Signal Corps during WWII where he served in England, France, and Germany. After returning from the service, he worked in the Clinton County Court House as Deputy Surveyor and Deputy Clerk. Later he began farming until his retirement in 1994. At that time, he and his wife sold the farm and moved to Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.

Calvin was a former member of Fickle Cloverleaf Methodist Church and Clarks Hill Christian Church, a lifetime member of Frankfort VFW and American Legion, and over 50-year member of Frankfort Elks Club. He also drove a school bus for Clinton Prairie School Corporation for 20 years and served on the Washington Township Advisory Board. The Andersons enjoyed travel and retracing his WWII steps in Europe in addition to trips to Alaska and Hawaii. They attended his Army reunions for 25 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (Timmons) whom he married December 21, 1946, in the Antioch Parsonage; three sons, Steve (wife, Vicki) Anderson of rural Mulberry, John (wife, Susan) Anderson of Boca Raton, Fla., and Bruce (wife, Norma) Anderson of Marion; one grandson, four granddaughters, one great-grandson, four stepgrandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and one sister, Connie Croteau.
