Born February 17, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Claude B. Adkins and Virgie May Adkins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Calvin Adkins, Reid Adkins, and James Adkins; and three sisters, Iris Adkins, Judy Lane Adkins, and Lorene Adkins.
He was a member of Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with dogs, using the CB, and his church.
He is survived by four sisters, Geneva Hodges of Danville, Kathleen Huggins of Danville, Betty Gibson and her husband, Charlie of Chatham and Barbara Jo Mills of Chatham; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, at Oak Ridge Christian Church Cemetery by Pastor Mike Gallimore.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Oak Ridge Christian Church, and other times will be at the residence of his sister, Barbara Jo Mills.
