Billie Jean Vanderpool of Ridgecrest died Saturday Jan 21, in a three vehicle accident near Adelanto. Also killed in the crash was her companion Jesse Calvin "Jay" Scroggins. She was 65. Mrs. Vanderpool was born to Edd and Evelyn Shinpoch on Feb 8, 1935, in Chocotah, Okla. She had been a Ridgecrest resident for 25 years. She had retired from employment with Drummond Medical Group after 14 years service. Mrs. Vanderpool is survived by son Hurley and daughter-in-law Gail Vanderpool, daughter Sharon and son-in-law Owen Hartley, all of Ridgecrest, son Eddie and daughter-in-law Pam Vanderpool of Redwood Valley; son Robin and daughter-in-law Deborah Vanderpool of Trona; brother Harold and sister-in-law Ellen Shinpoch of Hanford, sister Nina and brother-in-law Abe Brown of Quapaw, Okla; Merle Jenkins, Della Cunningham and J.J. Cunningham, 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She had an extended family of nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws and many friends in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Indiana. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, Jan 27, at All Faith Chapel. Rev Shelby Williams of the True Love Baptist Church will officiate.
