Almeta leaves to mourn one son, David Leach, and one daughter, Debbie Passmore both of Boron, CA; one sister, Wilma Eubanks of Lubbock, TX; . six grandchildren, Robert Leach and family, Brenda Smith and family, and Keith Leach all of Boron, CA; Lora Stoddard and family of Hesperia, CA; Elizabeth Hales and family of Palmdale, CA; and Linda Passmore of Las Vegas, NV; and eight great-grandchildren. Almeta's husband, Ralph Smith, and her son Kenneth Leach preceded her in death.
Graveside services were held on January 6, 2001 at East Kern Cemetery in Mojave and conducted by Stickel Mortuary.

She is survived by a son, David Leach and daughter Debbie Passmore, both of Boron; sister Wilma Eubanks, of Lubbock, Texas; grandsons Robert Leach and family and Keith Leach, both of Boron; granddaughters Lora Stoddard of Hesperia, Elizabeth Hales of Palmdale, Brenda Smith of Boron, and their families, and Linda Passmore of Boron.
