Jacob Funderburk, Sr. was the son of Hans Devauld Funderburk and Catherine Laney. He married Barbara DeLaney ca 1786 in South Carolina, where all of their 14 children were born: Samuel, John, Jane, Rachel, Arrena, Mary, Abel E., Jacob Jr., Henry, Franky, Joshua, W. L., Elizabeth and Barbara Ann Funderburk.
