Mr. Butler's Funeral.
The last token of respect to the remains of the late William H. Butler, were paid yesterday afternoon at his late residence on River street. The body lay on the parlor within a handsome black casket, and the countenance was as composed as if in sleep. The service was read by Rev. H. L. Jones and a quartet from St. Stephen's chanted Lord, Let Me Know My End, and sang the hymn Jesus Lover of My Soul. the pall bearers were Mayor Broderick, Hon. L. D. Shoemaker, William P. Miner, Timothy Parker, Dr. Sturdevant and Calvin Parsons. The carriers were Col Reynolds, Col Ricketts, E. O. Weeks, I. P. Hand, W. S. Biddle and W. G. Eno. Among the gentlemen present were R. J. Flick, Maj. Leonnard, W. Dickover, Gen Osborne, E. H. Chase, R. Sharpe, E. J. Sturdevant, R. Sharpe, Jr., S. H. Lynch, Douglass Smith, G. Loveland, E. S. Loop, Alderman Ziegler, H. H. Harvey, Moses Wilson, Dr. Ingham, E. Welles, L. Myers, John Yeager, Capt. Parker, W. D. Loomis, W. P. Ryman, G. H. Fisher, W. D. White, W. H. Nicholas, L. W. DeWitt, ex-Mayor McKune, of Scranton, and among the family connection, Col Conyngham, A. R. Brundage, Thomas Graeme, E. G. Butler, George H. Butler, Pierce Butler, Harry Butler, and G. R. Wright. Among the relatives from out of town were Dr. and Mrs. Strawbridge, of Danville, the latter a sister of the deceased; and Stuben Butler Murray and sister Josephine, of Trenton, nephew and niece of deceased. Their father Thomas Murray was at one time a resident of Wilkes-Barre, having studied law with the late Volney L. Maxwell. He was unable to be present, owing to the death of his mother on Monday, at 92 years. The Royal Insurance Co., with which the deceased had been identified as adjuster for 24 years was represented by Mr. S. D. Wood, of Philadelphia. Interment was in Hollenback Cemetery.
