LACON -- A. LeVerne Crew, 81, formerly of Lacon died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 1997, at Sharon Elms Nursing Home in

Peoria, where he had been a resident since March 1996. Born May 20, 1916, in rural Marshall County to John Edward and Hazel Jenkins Crew, he married Elizabeth Crank on Aug. 7, 1936. He married Virginia Lewis on Feb. 14, 1964. He married Deborah Clark on Nov. 5, 1983. They all preceded him in death, as did two sons and three brothers.

Surviving are three sons, Don of Peoria, Roy of Lacon and Ken of Sparland; one stepson, Tom Lewis of Varna; one daughter, Reta Crew Lopez of Lacon; four stepdaughters, Nellie Crew of Varna, Pat Janusek of Plano, Mary Lou Quinn of Chillicothe and Katy Carter of Sparland; four brothers, Clifford of Oglesby, Warren of Varna, Glenn of Magnolia and Walter of Peru; six sisters, Elizabeth Forbes of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Ella Teegardin and Dorothy Grubb, both of Streator, Rosie Crank of Chillicothe, Phyllis Clearwater of Tonica and Helen Bridgeforth of Rutland; 17 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was a maintenance mechanic for J.T. Fennell Co. in Chillicothe from April 6, 1970, until retiring on July 31, 1981. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lenz Memorial Home. The Rev. Don Gee will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.

Monday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia.
