Opera Singer. He was born Rivn (Rubin) Ticker and was regarded as one of America's greatest tenor opera singers. He began singing secular songs on a radio program in Manhattan in the 1930s and accepted a prestigious post as Chazan at the Brooklyn Jewish Centre in 1943. For the next three decades he continued singing on the radio, toured performing in the most renowned opera houses and made many Cantorial recordings. When he died, a funeral service was held for him on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. The service ended with the stage bare, except for Tucker's coffin, as the curtain came down on him for the final time.
