Uncle Wash was the son of Daniel, Sr., and Betsey Locklear Lowery (also Lowry). He married Catherine Anne Locklear on Oct. 31, 1863 in Robeson County, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the Sep. 16, 1915 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Wash Lowrie, perhaps the oldest Indian in Robeson County, died a few days ago at his home near Pembroke. For several years he was an invalid. At one time he was active in politics, voting the Republican ticket and had a large Indian following. He finally lost out and dropped from public notice.

Daniel, Sr., (1782 - 1864) was the son of James and Sarah Locklear Lowery. He married Betsey Locklear on Jul. 2, 1805 in Robeson County, North Carolina
