CITY OFFICIALS DECLARE PERIOD OF MOURNING
PALMDALE - Memorial Day Weekend has been declared a period of mourning by city officials here for five members of a Palmdale family killed Thursday in a fiery crash in Nevada.
Five-year-old Denise Lee was the only survivor of the crash which killed her father, mother, a brother and two sisters. She suffered burns and a broken collarbone.
Authorities said the surviving girl said her father had been rushing one of the children to the hospital because of an illness when the accident occurred. He apparently lost control and struck an embankment. The accident occurred on Interstate 14 about 40 miles east of Las Vegas.
Funeral services for Coy Lee, 26; his wife Rosemary, 25; and their children, David, 1; Janice, 4; and Rebecca, 8 months, will be held Monday morning in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here.
Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
