On this side of his family he is distantly related to President Theodore Roosevelt. Mr. Andrews' maternal grandparents were Dr. William Townes Jones and Laura Jane (Daniel) Jones...On September 19, 1946, he married Catherine Rebecca Terry of Martin, South Carolina, a graduate of Columbia College with an A.B. degree in the class of 1947...During World War II he entered service with the United States Army on May 19, 1943. In July of 1944 he was assigned to the European Theatre where he took part in the Battles of Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe. His rank was T/5, Radio Operator, and he was attached to the 276th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. Mr. Andrews received an honorable discharge from the armed forces on November 20, 1945. He is a member of the Democratic Party. In the Trenholm Methodist Church, Mr. Andrews serves on the Athletic Council. He is interested in all sports, particularly hunting and fishing.
