Virginia Stevens-Durst
Longtime California City resident, Virginia Stevens-Durst passed away on Monday, April 7, 2003 at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California after unexpectedly suffering a brain aneurysm just two days earlier.
A viewing and rosary was held on Friday evening, April 11. After a memorial mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, April 12, Virginia was buried in the California City Memorial Park next to her first husband, Ronald Stevens.
Born in the Philippines in 1923, Virginia married Ronald Stevens and the couple moved to California City in the late 1960s. Just recently married on February 15,2003, Virginia left behind her second husband, William Durst and his daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Mike Bivens.
Surviving family members living in the Philippines include Virginia's younger sister, Patrocinia Bonete and her many nieces and nephews including Emy, Nida, Raquel and Lydia. In New Jersey, Virginia is survived by her mother-in-law, Martha, and her brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Nancy Stevens and her three nieces, Gina Marie, Jennifer and Kristin.
Virginia leaves behind many California City friends who will miss her vitality and her ability to make others laugh.
