OAKDALE -- Services for Richard E. Childs, 73, formerly of Oakdale and Tilden, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Church of Christ here. The Rev. Alvin Schwarting and John Petersen will officiate with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden. He died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Heritage Health Care Center in Gering.

Richard F. Childs "died Monday, July 19, 2004 at Heritage Health Care Center in Gering. The son of Richard and Martha (Galyen) Childs was born Jan. 1, 1931, at Tilden. He graduated from Tilden High School. On March 22, 1957, he married Barbara Hansen at Yankton. They lived south of Oakdale. The U.S. Army veteran was involved in farming, fuel delivery and tree removal. He was a member of the Church of Christ." He was survived by 1 son and his wife, 4 daughters and their husbands, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 14 grandchildren.
