James Jackson Passes Away
Military services for James A. (Jack) Jackson, 51, will be held in the Stickel Mortuaries Chapel on Feb. 25, 1972.
He was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Middleriver Minnesota, and. passed away at an Edwards AFB hospital on Feb. 22, 1972. He made his home at 916 Rol1ing Hills Rd. in the homestead area in Mojave. .
Mr. Jackson served with both the Army and Marine Corps. He was in the U.S. Army during WWII, from 1942-45. He later served with the Marine Corps from 1952-66. He retired with the rank of Sgt. after 17 years and six months of service. He held the American Theatre service medal, the European-African Middle Eastern service medal, the Victory medal and the Good Conduct medal.
He is survived by his Wife, Grace, at the home; two sons, James of Kentucky, and Randy; a stepson, Dwane Rigg, Palmdale; a daughter, Sheila Durham, Greely, Colorado; two sisters, Dorothy Whitmore, Aurora, Ill., and Pat Sidlin, Long Beach; and three grandsons.
The 10:30 a.m. services will be conducted by U.S. Marine Corps Chaplain Brown from Barstow. The graveside services in the Mojave Cemetery will be attended by a Marine Corps detachment, also from Barstow.
The family has requested that contributions be made to the Heart Fund. Stickel Mortuaries of Mojave are in charge of the arrangements.
