Spectacular Car Wreck Fatal To Gayle Jackson

Gayle W. Jackson, 67, of 15938 L Street, Mojave was instantly killed Monday morning in a single car accident on Hwy. 58 two miles west of the Arvin turnoff.
Mystery surrounds the reason for the crash. Jackson was alone heading west toward Bakersfield about 7:00 a.m.
Al Dreyfus, a former resident of Mojave, was going in the same direction and Jackson passed him and waved.
Sometime after when the Jackson vehicle was almost out of vision Al saw a white car swerve out of control and turn across both lanes of the highway and sail off a high cliff. When he arrived at the scene a pickup going the opposite direction was stopped. Al told the other driver to see what he could do for the unfortunate driver and he would summon the CHP and an ambulance.
When Officers arrived they found a man dead without identification. His body had been thrown clear of the car and his wallet was gone.
Later, positive identification was made and the body removed to Stickel Mortuary.
Services will he held today, Thursday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. with Masonic Services assisted by Rev. John Tygart. in Stickel Chapel.
