Rhodes was born in rural Beecher City on August 5, 1905 the son of George W. and Emma J. (Logue) Rhodes. He worked as a carpenter and farmer all his life.
Survivors include, his former wife, Nellie Myrtle Grubaugh; sons, Delbert Eugene (Bernice) Rhodes of Bethalto and Alvin Laverne (Marie) Rhodes of Peru, In; daughters, Minnie Alice (Clyde) Orr of Tularosa, NM, Emily Darlene (Clarence) Deal of Forsythe and Joan Uldene Stebel of Morrow Bay, Ca.; sister, Maude Fair of Lovington; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one step great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by parents, one son, Uldridge Dale Rhodes in infancy; one brother, Jacob Rhodes; four sisters, Mae Durbin, Clara Tucker, Elizabeth Blurton and Florence Kane.
Funeral services were held Friday November 6 at Kull Funeral Home in St. Elmo. Burial was held in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, rural St. Elmo.
