Services For Michael Hopkins
Funeral services for Michael Lee Hopkins, 23, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29.
He was born June 5, 1948, in Los Angeles, and passed away in a Lancaster hospital on Jan, 25, 1972, from injuries incurred in an automobile accident.
Mr. Hopkins had moved to Cantil in 1960, and then to Mojave in 1963, He graduated from Mojave High School in 1966, and attended Bakersfield College for one year. He served in the Air Force, from 1967 to 1969.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Purinton, at the home, 15332 Carol, Mojave; two brothers, Gordon Purinton, Mojave, and Johnny Hopkins, Bakersfield; one sister, Vicki Purinton, Mojave; his grandmother, Esther Arnold, Los Angeles; and his grandfather, Bertie Purinton, Iowa.
The 10 a.m. services in the Stickel Mortuary Chapel will (be conducted by Doyle Balllentyne of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow in the Mojave Cemetery. Stickel Mortuaries are in charge of the arrangements.

Fatal Accident
Michael Lee Hopkins, 23, 15332 Carol, Mojave, was fatally injured in an accident on California City Blvd. last Sunday night.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Hopkins had lost control of his car, ran off the roadway and hit a utility pole. He got out of his car and attempted to flag a passing vehicle driven by John Henry Davis, 35, 3829 6th St. West, Palmdale.
Hopkins was struck by the Davis vehicle and was taken to the Antelope Valley Hospital with critical injuries. He died of the injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
