Walter A. Keller, 84, formerly of Newton Hamilton and more recently of 278 Standing Stone Ave., Huntingdon, died at noon, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1991, in the Huntingdon County Nursing Home, Huntingdon. Death followed an extended illness.

Funeral services were held Sept. 14 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. The Rev. Woody Leigy officiated. Interment was made in Newton Hamilton Cemetery.

Born July 3, 1907, at St. Thomas, he was a son of the late Floyd and Zelda (Bricker) Keller. He was married to the former Margaret E. (Stake) Keller, who died in September 1983.

Surviving are three children: W. Francis Keller of Huntingdon, Donald E. Keller of Springs, Texas, and Mrs. Robert "Pat" Thompson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Grace Fisher, McVeytown, and a half-brother, John Gerholt.

A sister, Edith Branthaver, and a half-brother, George Gerholt, preceded him in death.

Mr. Keller was a member of the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church, Newton Hamilton. He was also a member of the Newton Hamilton Lions Club.

During his life, he was employed by Wright Service Station, Mount Union; North American Refractories, Mount Union; American Refractories, Mount Union; Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon; and, later, at Speck's Car Wash and as a security guard at the Crawford Apartments, both in Huntingdon.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a cook with Company E, 276th Infantry, with duty in Germany.
