Son of William John Maxwell and Elizabeth Rooney. Married Jane Elizabeth Beacham 25 August 1923.

William John Maxwell was named after his father who was born in 1881.

His father came to America April 28, 1905, on a Cunard Steamship named the Teutonic. It departed from Liverpool and signed into Ellis Island at age 26 years. He declared his ticket for passage continued to Eureka, Utah where he had work in the mines. He declared a total of $12. He worked until he could purchase tickets for his family and they also came to America.

Bill, his sister Elizabeth and brother Robert accompanied their mother on the same voyage and on the same ship (the Teutonic) arriving June 21 1906 at Ellis Island. Bill was listed at age 4 years, Elizabeth 2 Years 6 months, and
Robert was listed at 11 months on the ship Manifest. Their mother also named Elizabeth Maxwell was passenger #0025 and was 26 years old.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, for a long time resident, William Maxwell, Sr. Mr. Maxwell first came to Mojave in 1933. His home was at 2233 Panamint St. He was born Dec. 19, 1901 in Eureka Utah, and passed away ,April 12, while on a visit to San Diego.
Bill was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion. He had been a miner at the Golden Queen Mine and also worked as a blasting expert many years ago during the construction of the Angeles Crest Highway. He had also been a fireman at the old Mojave Marine Base, a volunteer fireman and served the Board of the Mojave Fire commissioners. For many years he operated a radio and TV repair shop in Mojave.
He is survived by his wife Jane; a son, Wm. Maxwell, Jr. Pleasant Grove, Utah; a brother, Jim Maxwell, Eureka Utah; a sister Jane Reid, San Diego; and 5 grandchildren.
The services at the Stickel Mortuary Chapel will he conducted by Gordon Bunn, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Interment will be in the Mojave Cemetery.
