Services set for Mother Minard

The Mojave area lost another pioneer in the passing of Mrs. Elizabeth Minard, better known to her many friends as "Mother Minard". She passed away in a convalescent hospital at Bakersfield on May 9th at the age of 93.
Born in Weatherford, Texas Oct. 8, 1871, her birthday had become an annual celebration with people traveling many miles to her home on Red Mountain near Cantil to help celebrate.
She had lived in California 46 years and was a 40-year resident of Kern County. At one time Mrs. Minard owned and operated a rooming house in Mojave.
She is survived by three sons; William and Bruce of Cantil; and Edward Dickerson of Yuma, Arizona.
Services will be held in Stickel Chapel at 10:30 a.m. May 15th with Rev. Harold James of the Nazarene Church officiating. Burial will be at Mojave Cemetery.
