Mrs. Pina Ewing Taken in death
Mrs. Pina J. Ewing, a long time resident of Mojave and a former deaconess of the Community Congregational Church, passed away at Tehachapi Valley Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Funeral services were conducted yesterday, Nov. 8, at the church with the Rev. James C. Thompson officiating. Interment followed at Mojave District Cemetery. The Mojave Desert Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ewing, in her eighty eighth year was born in Carroll County, Arkansas, on July 31, 1874. She was a resident of Mojave for 38 years, living here with her daughter, Mrs. Juanita Ewing Carroll. She and her late husband, Sherman Ewing, had a grocery store in Mojave.
She is survived by her daughter, her nephew, Ellis Elsey of Lompoc, and a niece, Mrs. Carmen Quijada of Santa Barbara.
Formerly Mrs. Ewing had served as church treasurer, president of the Women's Fellowship, and president of the missionary society.
