Two Killed. One Badly Injured in Car Truck Crash
Two L. A. Aqueduct workers, one a local resident, died early Thursday morning June 12 when, their car smashed into an empty lumber truck at Rogers Road and Hwy. 14, about 20 miles north of here.
Hecter Estrada and Mike, Nuno were pronounced DOA at Tehachapi Hospital where they were taken by Morris Ambulance. Mr. Estrada lived at 2144 Mono St. Mojave and although Mr Nuno also lived there he was a regular resident of Delano.
All three men were employed by the Griffith Co. who are building the Second Barrel of the L.A. Aqueduct. They were headed for the job when the crash occurred at 4:35 a.m. according to Mojave CHP. Station.
Also taken to the Tehachapi Hospital in critical condition was Joe Lara, 36 of 16043 K St. Mojave a third member in the ill fated car.
Warren J. Nichols, 54, the lumber truck driver, said he had halted his empty truck at the stop sign at Rogers Rd. and Hwy. 14 when the Estrada vehicle, going north on Hwy. 14 apparently drifted off the road and crashed into the motionless truck.

Delano Services For Auto Death
Miguel Nuno 42, of 1926 Albany St., Delano was declared DOA at Tehachapi Hospital following an auto accident.
Born in Mexico he was employed as a laborer by the Griiffth Co. near Mojave.
Among his survivors are his wife Consuelo, two children, all of Delano: Three brothers and four sisters, all of Mexico are also survivors.
Services were held June 16 at 9:00 a.m. in Lady of Guadalupe Church in Delano.
Interment was in that city with arrangements by Stickel Mortuary.

Hector Estrada died following an auto accident June 12 on Hwy. 14 and Rogers Rd.
Born in Mexico, he was employed as a laborer for the Griffith Go. at the time of his death.
Suvivors include his wife, Amelia; two sons, David, Hector; four daughters, Margaret, Lupe, Theresa and Sheila; two brothers, Manuel of Arizona and Louis; Monterey Park and two sisters Cella, Monterey Park and Margarita of Mexicali.
Rosary was said June 16 and services were held in St. Francis Church with Father Eggert of Tehachapi officiating.
Interment was in Mojave Cemetery with Stickel Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
