Pioneer Woman Passes Away
Mrs. Laura Francis Eckles, who had made her home in Mojave for the past 27 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Rector, on August 5.
A native of Marion County Ill. where she was born on April 22, 1870, Mrs. Eckles was 93 years of age at the time of her death.
Funeral services will be held at thr Mojave Assembly of God Church at 11 a.m. on Friday Aug. 9th with the Rev. J. D. Countryman officiating. Interment will be in the Mojave Cemetery.
Mrs. Rector with whom Mrs. Eckles made her home, is her only surviving child. Grandchildren include Phil Rector of Mojave, Mrs. Norma Tweedy of Gardena, Mrs. Virginia White of Wilmington, Mrs. May Red of Oklahoma and Mrs. Erma Tiller of New York.
