Born 17 April 1892 on the family farm in Zion (Township) near the village of Saint Martin in Stearns County, MN; Johanna was the eleventh of twelve children born to Conrad & Mary (Traun) Schaefer.
On 27 November 1912, Johanna married Joseph Frank Watzke at Saint Martin Catholic Church in Saint Martin, MN; he was age 24, she was 20. Born near Spring Hill, MN; Joseph was the sixth of eight children born to Frank & Anna (Korgel -- nee Phillips) Wotzka.

In their later years together, Johanna helped Joseph run a tavern (and later a used furniture store) in Saint Cloud, MN. She died 15 February 1982 at age 89, having survived him by 25 years.
On 12 July 1958, Johanna second married Joseph Otto Ebnet (a retired Captain, Saint Cloud Police Department) in Saint Cloud, MN; they were both age 66. Joseph Otto was the third of seven children born to Johann & Margerette (Bartel) Ebnet.
