DIETZ, Jack I. - Funeral services are pending at Turner's Funeral Home, Mojave for Jack I. Dietz, 48, who died Saturday at his home, 15814 L Street, Mojave. Mr. Dietz, who had lived in the desert town for the past 26 years, was employed as a maintenance man for Los Angeles Water and Power Co. He was born February 6, 1911, in Grand Island, Nebr. survivors include his mother Mrs. Pansy B. Dietz and one brother, Carl W. Dietz of Chico, CA.
Local Resident Is Taken In Death
Jack L. Dietz, 48, was found dead in his home, 15814 L Street, Saturday afternoon, June 20, by Marvin Moore and a friend who dropped in to visit.
They immediately called the Mojave Sheriff Substation, who made an initial investigation and called the coroner. After Deputy Coroner Dick Gervais arrived at the scene, the body was removed and an autopsy performed which showed death due to natural causes.
Mr. Dietz was born Feb. 6, 1911 in Grand Island, Nebraska. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a demolition expert and a sharpshooter.
A resident of Mojave for 20 years, he had been employed by the Dept of Water and Power for the past 8 years as a maintenance and construction helper. He was terminated from his job June 8 according to records.
Survivors include his widowed mother, Pansy of Mojave and a brother, Carl W. of Chico, Calif.
Graveside services in the Mojave Cemetery were held Tuesday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Thompson officiating. In charge of arrangements was the Turner Funeral Home.
