Woman Killed As Car Rolls

A North Edwards woman was pronounced D.O.A. at the Boron hospital after she was thrown from her car, and then pinned under it on Sept. 14.
The accident occurred on the Hwy. 58 frontage road, east of Claymine, near the construction zone. Receiving the fatal injuries was Doris Ann Cross, 43, 13399 Davenport, North Edwards.
A. witness to the accident, Joseph N. Martin, 22, Edwards AFB, told California Highway Patrol officers that he had seen the other car going east at approximately 40-60 m.p.h., when it suddenly skidded sideways across the road and overturned several times. On reaching the scene he found the woman pinned under the car.
The investigating 0fficers were of the opinion that the vehicle was traveling at about 50 m.p.h., and hit the south shoulder of the highway. The driver evidently overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid. Evidence indicated that Ms. Gross was thrown through the left window, and the car rolled over on her.
