Car Accident Claims Life of Lou Raynor
H. L. "Lou" Raynor was instantly killed in a collision 19 miles east of Mojave at 6:30 Wednesday morning when the car in which he was a passenger struck another car carrying three airmen returning to Edwards Air Base.
Both cars were eastbound, but details of the accident are not available although it is thought a blowout caused one of the cars to swerve .
Walter Jones, the driver, Lou Raynor and Jess Toler all of Reefer City and Golden Queen Mine camp were on their way to work at P. C. B. when they became involved in the accident.
Toler was transported to the Mojave Hospital by the O'Donnell ambulance while the injured airmen were taken to the Edwards Hospital.
Lou Raynor, 40, and his family had lived at Reefer City for nearly 13 years. He is survived by his wife, Georgia, son, Dick, 18, a member of the USMC, EI Toro Calif., and. four other children, Phillip, l4, Patricia, l0, Sammy, 9 and Georgia Lou 6, all of Reefer City. He was a member of the Chemical Workers Union.
Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for Friday, Sept. 7, with the Rev. Merrill E. Rogers of the Assembly of God Church officiating. O'Donnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
