Heart Attack Takes Reno Riccomini
While Vacationing at Lake Tahoe

Reno Riccomini, a 30 year resident and prominent business man in Mojave, passed on August 12 during a trip to Lake Tahoe.
The rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. August 16th at St. Francis Church, and the funeral services were held at 10
a.m. on August 17 at St Francis Church with a host of friends attending. Interment was in the Mojave Cemetery.
He was born in Bakersfield Nov. 11, 1914 and attended local schools there. He first came to Mojave about 1924 and started learning the restaurant business. He returned to Bakersfield and worked at the old El Tejon Hotel. He settled again in Mojave in 1941 and operated the Montmarte Café which was in the same block on Sierra Hwy. as the present Reno's which was purchased from Marshall Wilhelm.
Besides Reno's, he operates the French Cafe in Mojave. He was a consultant for L-J Associates, a restaurant designing firm.
Reno was noted for keeping his retaurants modern and up to date and recently introduced several innovations in the remodeling of the bar and Sierra Room at Reno's. His restaurants had received several Golden Awards from the Kern County Health Dept. for the excellent sanitation standards that were maintained.
The main dining room at Reno's reflected his love of hunting with several fine trophies decorating the walls.
He was a noted community worker and served in the past as a director of the Mojave Public Utility District, was active in community affairs and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a charter member of the Mojave Elks Lodge, and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by the widow Lucille; three sons, Michael, Phillip and Victor all of Mojave; three daughters, Mrs. Myra Wilson, Lancaster; Mrs. Carol Kramer, Pacific Grove; and Mrs. Judy Hibbs, Edwards and eight grand children.
He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Yole Antongiovanni, Mrs. Lena Cappello, Mrs. Lilwana Banducci and Mrs. Mary Cortopassi, all of Bakersfield.
Pallbearers were Jack Pittman, Bob Graves, Fred Chabot, Louie Nese, John DeRita, Everett Moore, Arlie Wright and Frank Cappello.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Kieffe, Don Morris, Lee Jones, Ves Rau, Roger White, Ray Given and Tony Actis.
Stickel Mortuaries of Mojave were in charge of arrangements.
