Daniel Glenn Roe
Daniel Glenn Roe, 70, passed away March 16, 1997 at LCH. He was born March 22, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Kansas to Daniel and Mabel Roe. He was raised in Battle Creek, Michigan and had resided in Mojave since 1970.
He served in the United States Army from 1944-1955 as a Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Germany and in the Korean conflict serving with the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Division.
Daniel was employed with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas before moving to the Antelope Valley to gain employment at Lockheed Aircraft in Palmdale where he worked for 18 years and retired from that corporation in 1987 When he was afflicted with emphysema. He worked on the 117 project until retirement.
Daniel was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 39 and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 3000. Upon retirement Dan became a volunteer driver for the DAV's to hospitals in the greater Los Angeles basin. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Mojave.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 35 years Claris Benefiel Roe of Mojave; five children Bettina Roe of Tucino, CA, Danette Roe Onofre and husband Ernesto of Glendale, CA, Robert Roe and wife Jeannie of Portage, Michigan, Melinda Roe of Mojave, and Melanie Roe and fiance Brent Burman of San Gabriel, CA; six grandchildren Tyler Daniel Roe, Cara Onofre, Olivia Roe, Kristina Roe, Brianna Michel and Dakota Michel; two sisters Helen and husband Howard Smith of Napeland, FL and Mary Wheeler of Parma Heights, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a newborn son in 1963, his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Viewing will be from 10 to 12 a.m. and Funeral services are at 1 p.m. at Stickel Mortuary.
Donations to American Lung Association. Stickel Mortuary will be handling arrangements.
