Guido Salvestro Passes After lengthy Illness

Rosary was held Sunday evening, July 2, for Guido A. Salvestro 71, who passed away at his home, 16017 L St. June 30 in Mojave.
Born October 13, 1895 in Italy, he had been a resident of Mojave for the past 25 yrs
Guido was an excellent chef and operated many restaurants in his long career.
He come to Mojave about 25 years ago to operate the French Cafe when both Frank and Apple (Cappello) went into the armed services. He ran the cafe until it burned down in 1947. Later he ran the old Tower Cafe and still later White's Cafe before the new one was built in 1956.
Always ready to help in community affairs, he was a member at large of the Mojave Lions Club and Knights of Columbus.
Several years ago he had surgery which forced him to learn to talk all over again.
Mr. Salvestro loved horses and rode actively until he became ill.
Survivors include his widow, Catherine, and a daughter Evelyn of Southgate.
Mass was said Monday, Jul. 3rd at St. Francis Church by Father Maloney with interment following in Mojave District Cemetery.
