Florence Tomaier Called By Death
When Mrs, Florence E. Tomaier passed away here last week, part of a legend went with her. Mrs. Tomaier was one of the famous "Harvey" girls that staffed the Harvey Houses when the railroads were young.
Mrs, Tomaier made her home at 2224 Inyo St., Mojave. She was born in Edmunds, North Dakota on October 7, 1899, and passed away in a Lancaster hospital on April 30, 1971.
She first came to California in 1903 and settled in Mojave in 1919. She married her husband, Joseph, in Covina in November 1921. He passed away in 1965.
Mrs. Tomaier is survived by a son, Joseph C. Tomaier, and two grandsons, Dale and Phillip, all of Covina, Calif.
Her graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, May 4, 1971 at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. William R. Hampton of the Mojave Lutheran Church. Stickel’s Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements. Interment was in the Mojave Cemetery.
