Death takes Old timer Joe Tomaier

Mojave lost another oldtimer in the passing of Joseph Tomaier, who came to Mojave in 1917. He was a retired employee of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company and also a veteran of the first World War.
Mr. Tomaier was born on July 22, 1896 in Chicago, Ill. and began his employment when he came to Mojave with the Southern Pacific Railroad company as a car washer. He also served as a machinist's helper and a machinist and retired in 1961.
He was a member of the Golden Queen Post of World War I Veterans and the American Legion.
Graveside services were held at the Mojave District Cemetery on Saturday Oct. 23rd, 1965 with military services. Dr. Warren Hitz of Hope Lutheran Church conducted a burial service.
He passed away on Oct. 21st in a San Fernando Veterans Hospital and is survived by his widow, Florence, who resides at the family home 2224 Inyo Street and one son, Joseph, of Covina, California. Other survivors include two sisters: Rose Phillips, Paradise, and Minnie McCubbin, Canada; five brothers: Charley, Paradise; Bill, Frank, Eddie and Jimmy, all of Glidden, Wisconsin; and two grand-children.
The Stickel Mortuary was in charge of arrangements for the funeral.
