FROSTBURG, MD., April 23 - The funeral of John Kirby, Sr., of Vale Summit, who died at Providence Hospital, Washington, D. C., of Bright's disease, Friday, took place this morning and arrived at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, at 9 o'clock. Rev. V. T. Schmidt, of Washington, D. C., celebrated a requiem mass and paid a deserved tribute to the noble and qualities of the deceased. The interment was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.

FUNERAL OF MR. KIRBY
At Frostburg This Morning Was the Largest in Many Years.

The funeral of Mr. John Kirby, whose death was noted on Saturday, took place at St. Michael’s church, at nine o’clock this morning. The procession, numbering over 70 conveyances,left the residence, Vale Farm, near Vale Summit, at an early hour.

Five priests, from Baltimore and Washington, among one whom was Father Schmidt, were present to assist Father Clarke.

Mr. Kirby was particularly noted for his kindness to the poor and afflicted families.

The Catholic Benevolent Legion, of which he was a member, attended. A large number of friends from towns along the creek aud this city witnessed the impressive and beautiful services. The floral tributes were of the most elaborate designs ever seen at any funeral.

The bearers were Chas. Hery, Patrick McGannn, Thos. Kain, John McCann, Samuel Jackson, Wm. Grimes.
