Eugene Chanz Is Taken In Death

Eugene Chanz, a lifelong resident of the desert area having been born in Kelso Valley, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1959 a 10:15 a.m. in Kern General Hospital, Bakersfield.
Born May 20, 1908 he was a rancher for a time and also worked as a miner. He went to school in Kelso Valley which is now practically deserted except for a few hardy residents.
Survivors include his widow, Cora whose address is Cinco Bills Service Station, 16 miles north of Mojave; one daughter, Betty Rae Henson of Mojave; a son, Eugene of Ridgecrest; three sisters, Laura Reed of Ridgecrest; Rose Robinson of Onyx, Alice Robinson of Bakersfield; and two brothers, Sam Sorells of Ridgecrest and Harvey Sorells of Trona.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Congregational Church with Howard D. Finer Eagles Lodge, officiating.
Interment will be in Mojave District Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Mojave in charge of arrangements.
