SCOTT VINSON, DIST. V.F.W. COM. DIES SUDDENLY
Members of the local Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and their Auxiliaries as well as all other friends and acquaintances of Scott Vinson were shocked to learn of his sudden demise in the local hospital on Tuesday evening at 8:21 o'clock.
Scott had been bothered earlier in the day with a peculiar pain and arrived at the hospital at 12:30 noon for a checkup. He never rallied, passing away of coronary thrombosis which in plain English means heart disease.
He was born February 28, 1889 at Barnesville, Mo., and came to California where in 1925 he was employed by the Department of Water and Power of Los Angeles first as a laborer, then in succession as a mechanic, truck driver, cat skinner and at the time of his death was labor foreman on the Aqueduct, Mojave Division.
He was Past Commander of the local post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and District Commander of the 10 District of the same organization, being a veteran of World War 1.
He leaves two sisters, Mrs Maude Haylett of Sheaville, Ore. and Mrs. Ethel Airs of Portland Ore. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the O'Donnell Funeral Home are pending His estate will be settled by the public administration in the absence of relatives.
Scott was known to everyone here as a man of very genial disposition who always has a smile no matter when you met him. His comrades in the military orders will miss him very greatly.
