Services For Rev. Billy Washburn

Funeral services for the Rev. William "Billy" Washburn were held in the First Baptist Church in Mojave on Dec. 12, 1973.
Rev. Washburn had been pastor of the Baptist Church for the past five years. He had been a member of the ministry for 43 years
He was born in New York City on Oct. 26, 1909, and passed away on Dec. 8, 1973, at the age of 64. He had been a resident of California for 25 years, and had lived in Kern County for nine years. Rev. Washburn made his home on Munsey Rd. in Cantil.
Rev. and Mrs. Washburn had been honored earlier in the year by an invitation to a Presidential prayer breakfast in Washington, D.C. As a member of the Mojave Chamber of Commerce he had recently been urging members to write letters to state and national leaders on the energy crisis.
He is survived by his wife Pearl, at the home; three sons, Bill, Jr., Morgan Hill; James, Fair Oaks; and Gary, Holden, Mass.; three brothers, Albert, Sepulveda; Charles, Lancaster; and Donald, Marion, Indiana; and 10 grandchildren.
Officiating at the 2 p.m. services were the Rev. Guy Bradley, Baptist Association Missionary; the Rev. Fred DeBerry, No. Edwards Baptist Church, and the Rev. Ray Watts, First Baptist Church in Lancaster. Interment was, in the Mojave Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Thomasson, Charles Vance, Ray Mur:phy, S.L. Bowlin, Ray McBryant and Don Hunt. Stickel Mortuaries were in charge of arrangements.
