He served his country in the Army for three years, one year in the states, one year in Korea, and one year in Vietnam. Along with his honorable discharge, he received special commendation from his commanding officer for his patriotic efforts during combat: "You have consistently demonstrated the highest degree of initiative and professional skill and your unswerving loyalty and devotion to duty helped the 128th Combat Aviation Company "Tomahawks" achieve an outstanding record".
Services were held Wednesday, June3rd at 11:00 a.m. in Stickel Chapel.
John is remembered and loved by his wife Katherine Ann, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Westberg, his three sisters, Mrs. Lela Bailey, Mrs. Sonja Taylor, and Mrs. Jeannie Crittenden, his brother Bob Westberg , three nieces and two nephews.
