Funeral services for Mary Ruth Havins, 80, of Bonham, will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Liz Talbert will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Ruth passed away at her residence, early Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 surrounded by those she loved most and who loved her best.

Ruth was born February 17, 1932 in Muleshoe, Texas, the daughter of Oliver Grant Actkinson and Tessie Mae Hollabaugh Actkinson. She was a 1949 graduate of Arlington High School. Ruth married Ray Havins on Dec. 23, 1950 in Arlington, Texas. She was a Blue Bird, Camp Fire Girls and Girl Scout leader. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Builder's Class and the UMW. She was instrumental in helping to create the KOOL Lunch program and started the Head Start Blanket program, making 165 blankets, one for each child for the beginning of each school year. Ruth was a homemaker and served as a volunteer at Fort Inglish Museum. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters and a son-in-law, Greg Rowland.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Ray Havins of Bonham, TX, 2 Sons, Terry Havins and wife, Kathy of Arlington, TX, and Stephen Havins and wife Dee of Keller, TX, 2 Daughters, Karen Weeks and husband, Bill of Bonham, TX, and Tracy Rowland of Tollhouse, CA, Sister, Nancy Kirk and husband, Don of Shreveport, LA, 12 grandchildren, 11 great, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Derek Weeks, Chris Call, Chris Havins, Jordan Rivera, Brian Coleman and her oldest great grandson, Zachary Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Douglas Rowland and Jeffrey Rowland and members of the Builder's Class.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 801 Star St., Bonham, TX 75418.
