Here is a quote from Aug 23, 1944 letter to George Nimmo from Fred:
"I didn't come anywhere near getting the ship I wanted. They've got me flying 24's and not liking it a bit. I do have a helluva good crew which makes it a lot better. We have 10 missions in over here now. I'm hoping we finish up in time to be home by Christmas. It'll take a lot of good weather though and thats' something we get damn little of ."
