Bickell Rites Held In Mojave
Funeral services for Muril D. Bickell, a 15-year resident of California City, were held at the Stickel Mortuaries Chapel in Mojave on Monday, June 28.
Mr. Bickell was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Long Beach, Ca., and passed away suddenly at his home at 20237-88th St., on June 24. His wife, Evelyn, had preceded him in death in 1970.
He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II, and held the rank of S / Sgt. with the 8074th Bomb Squadron. Mr.
Bickell, in conjunction with his father and brother, had formed California City's first police protection by operating a merchant patrol service. At the time of his death he was the grounds superintendent for the Mojave Cemetery District.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Angie J. Bickell, at the Cal City home; a brother, Murvin, Honolulu; and two sisters,
Ruby Bright, Long Beach, and Lois Kienley, San Luis Obispo.
The Rev. George Halteman officiated at the 10 a.m. services, and interment followed at the Mojave Cemetery. Stickel Mortuaries were in charge of arrangements.
