Services for George A. Bates

The Rosary for George A. Bates, 57, of Calif. City, was recited at 7:00 p.m. on May 4, and Mass was said on Thursday, May 5, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Mr. Bates was born on Nov. 20, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., and passed away at Edwards AFB hospital on May 2. He served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force,retiring as S / Sgt. He worked the past year as a security guard for NASA. He had lived in California and Kern County for the past 11 years,
He is survived by his wife, Ondina, at the family home, 21313 Bancroft Ct., two brothers Raymond and Chester, and two sisters, Dolores Borrelle and Shirley Kraft, all of Chicago. .
Officiating at the services was Capt. Larry Fedor of Edwards AFB. Interment followed in the East Kern Cemetery, Mojave. StickeI Mortuaries were in .charge of arrangements.
