Yellow Fever Epidemic
Birth: unknown
Death: 1878
Fulton County
Kentucky, USA

From August-November, 1878, Hickman, Kentucky was devastated by a Yellow Fever Epidemic that was so severe that the Governor of Kentucky himself, Dr. Luke Blackburn, rushed to the town in order to care for the patients. There were 462 cases during the epidemic and 150 people died. They were all buried in an unmarked mass grave and a historical marker in the cemetery is all that marks the area. (bio by: Tim Crutchfield)
