Claude Spencer Boggess was born on May 3 1890 in Greenfield, Highland County, OH. The family moved to New Freeport, Greene County, PA, before 1905, as Claude graduated from high school in Greene County that year.

He married Florence May Stiles on Sep 20 1910 in Newark, Licking County, OH. The couple returned to live in New Freeport where their first three children were born, but by 1916, had moved to Fairmont, where their fourth child was born and where, for the next 25 years, Claude was an erection superintendent for the Fairmont (WV) Mining and Manufacturing Company. During the last six years of his life, Claude was an engineer for the Kanawha Manufacturing Company in Charleston, WV. He died suddenly on May 7 1942, while bowling with friends. His body was first taken to Fairmont, where he had many friends, then moved to Greene County, PA for burial in the Stiles family plot on May 11 1942.
