DAVENPORT - Robert Dale Miller, a resident of Davenport, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, after a brief but valient battle with leukemia. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the air-conditioning fund at Grace Lutheran Church. Bob was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Waynetown, Ind., to Alice Luceil (Mullen) Miller and Lex Miller. He was a graduate of Davenport High School and married Nancy Beth Johnson on Sept. 29, 1962, in Davenport. They resided in Davenport and later moved to Eldridge, Iowa. Their children, Diana and Kathy, were born in 1963 and 1968 and graduated from North Scott High School. During those years, they enjoyed camping and traveling. When he was younger, Bob worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a machinist. He then worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co., Mt. Joy, Iowa. When Mt. Joy closed, Bob transferred to Peoria, and he and his wife moved to Dunlap, Ill. After Bob retired as a systems analyst in 1996, they moved back to Davenport. During his retirement, Bob and Nancy enjoyed vacationing in tropical locations, classic cars, spending summers at classic car shows and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all, Bob loved and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was the very proud owner of a 1962 Chevrolet Impala convertible and enjoyed woodworking during the winter. Bob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Davenport, where he served as an usher. He also was a member of Tri-L and the Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Diana, Marty, Cathy and Gary Stoye, Rock Island; daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Kathy, Steve, Alison and Matthew Klos, Bettendorf; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Michiko Miller, Klamath Falls, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ikuyo Miller, Grovesport, Ohio; his aunt, Helen Janeway, Veedersburg, Ind.; his uncle, Earl Mullen, Lansing, Ill.; and nieces and nephews, Robert of Florida, SueAnn of Arizona, Ilean of Ohio, Emmy Jo of Oregon, Frederick of Illinois and Naomi of Utah. Also surviving are the many wonderful friends with whom he enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, and sharing suppers and classic cars. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, D'Wayne, who died in infancy.
