James Byrd Hightower married Annie Janice Blount May 5, 1907 in Live Oak, Florida. James at the time was working with the Live Oak Perry and Gulf Railroad. Annie was the daughter of Philemon Bryant and Sarah Rebecca Bird Blount. James and Annie Blount Hightower had the following children James Blount Hightower (1908-1988), Susie Hightower (1910-1986), Aldeen Hightower (1912-1987) and Sara Ruth Hightower (1916-2012). After the death of James in 1918 Annie and the children remained in Live Oak, Florida where she operated a Boarding House on Duval Street. On May 19, 1924 she married John George Davidson and soon thereafter relocated to Hillsborough County, Florida.
