Birth: Aug. 4, 1852
Weststellingwerf Municipality
Friesland, Netherlands
Death: Dec. 31, 1914
Weststellingwerf Municipality
Friesland, Netherlands

Grietje de Ruiter (= the Horseman, the Rider) was born on 4 August 1852 in Oldelamer, in municipality Weststellingwerf, in the southern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland. Grietje's parents are Joost Dirks de Ruiter and Jantjen Egberts Dijkstra.

On 7 May 1875 she married at Wolvega, seat of municipality Weststellingwerf, at the age of 22 years to one year younger Pier Fabriek (= Factory).

The following children were born in the Friesian municipality Weststellingwerf:

- Anne Piers Fabriek, 24 February 1876;
- Jantje Fabriek, 10 December 1878;
- Joost Fabriek, 15 June 1880, Oldetrijne;
- Jan Fabriek, 15 February 1882, Oldetrijne;
- Wobbigje Fabriek, 9 May 1884;
- Geesje Fabriek, 20 November 1885;
- Dirk Fabriek, 23 October 1887, Oldetrijne.

On 14 May 1908 Grietje Fabrick, 56 years aged, arrived with her husband and manager Pier and their children Jantje, Wobbigje, Geesje, Dirk and Anne Fabrick on the SS Adriatic at New York, Ellis Island. Anne, an irrigation inspector, is accompanied by his wife Johanna and their infant Greta. The three daughters are hatmakers and Dirk is a teacher.
Their destination is Orange City in Iowa, where a nephew and cousin reside.
In 1910 Grietje and her husband Peter Fabrick lived with their children Jennie (31 y), Wilma (25 y), Grace (24 y) and Dick (22 y) at Manhattan, Gallatin County in the southwestern part of Montana, near the Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam.
In 1920 the 65 years aged widower Peter Fabrick lived at the home of his daughter Wilma (34 y, Wobbigje) and her husband John Vander Laan in Gallatin County, Montana.
So Grietje must have died between 1910 and 1920. And she did, ultimo 1914 at Wolvega, the seat of her birth municipality Weststellingwerf in the southern part of the northern province Friesland! Did she die there during a visit to her "old" relatives there?! But (a scan of) her death akte states that she resided at Wolvega then. Very remarkable and quite mysterious. End 2012 there was no grave mark for Grietje in municipality Weststellingwerf (anymore?).
